How AI is revolutionising how firefighters tackle blazes and saving lives
Briefly

In early July, firefighter Phillip SeLegue highlighted the effectiveness of AI in wildfire prediction, which streamlined response times from several hours to mere seconds after a 911 call.
SeLegue noted, 'If we know that there's going to be heightened fire activity... we can use [AI] to validate that yes, this area's purple, meaning the highest alert level,' ensuring better resource allocation.
The implementation of AI has drastically transformed predictions, automating the lengthy process of analyzing fire reports to generate actionable information in about 18 to 20 seconds.
Predicting a wildfire's outbreak now relies on understanding burnable vegetation, its dryness, and the difficult-to-predict ignition sources—factors crucial for effective firefighting.
