Google AI Overviews have negligible impact on traffic say publishers | MarTech

In our analysis post-Google's AI Overviews rollout, we found that these AI-generated answers show up in only about 15% of our search categories. Notably, our traffic remains unaffected, suggesting that while the technology is present, it’s not significantly altering user engagement with our content at this time. However, it's important to remember that the landscape can shift quickly in the digital realm, and what we see today may not hold true tomorrow.
After evaluating our key domains, we discovered that AI Overviews appeared in only 8% of queries that drive our most critical organic search referrals. This means that the vast majority – 92% – of the time, our most important search engine results pages still do not feature AI-generated content. Industry analyses echo our findings, suggesting that the introduction of AI Overviews hasn’t transformed the search experience as much as some may have anticipated.
