Databricks' new updates aim to ease gen AI app and agent development
Briefly

Databricks is implementing four significant updates aimed at meeting enterprise needs for AI governance and application management. A highlighted feature, Centralized Governance, allows better management of both open and closed language models through the Mosaic AI Gateway, addressing enterprises' concerns about AI governance complexity. The enhancements also include the Provision-Less Batch Inference capability, enabling organizations to execute AI queries with a single SQL query without the need for extensive infrastructure set-up, thus lowering the barrier for AI scaling and deployment.
Our research shows that governance is one of the top concerns enterprises have about their AI initiatives as it is complicated by the fact that there are multiple components to the process.
The Centralized Governance ability...ensures consistent security, access controls, and compliance, while also cutting costs by eliminating duplicates and streamlining licensing fees.
