"The 30-second spot, which reportedly costs more than $8 million, features a man asking an AI chatbot for a fitness plan. When he reveals that he's 5'7", the AI interjects with an ad for insoles that can add to his height, complete with a discount code. According to The Wall Street Journal, Anthropic will also run a longer, pre-game spot featuring a man asking for help communicating with his mother;"
"Our users won't see 'sponsored' links adjacent to their conversations with Claude; nor will Claude's responses be influenced by advertisers or include third-party product placements our users did not ask for," the company writes in a blog post. Anthropic says it also wants to avoid ads in a separate window to ensure Claude offers a "clear space to think and work."
Anthropic is investing millions in Super Bowl advertising, including a 30-second spot and longer pre-game commercial that use AI scenarios to promote the brand. The company is buying high-cost ad time and posting additional commercials on social platforms while maintaining that its Claude chatbot will remain ad-free for users. Claude will not display sponsored links adjacent to conversations, and responses will not be influenced by advertisers or include unsolicited third-party product placements. Anthropic wants a separate, ad-free window to preserve a clear space for thinking and to avoid incentives that prioritize engagement over concise, useful interactions. The policy could be revisited with transparency if needed.
