AI was touted as a game changer for productivity - but employees are still saddled with growing workloads

Despite increasing reliance on AI, many UK enterprises are struggling with heightened workloads and inefficiencies. Research from Wrike highlights that knowledge workers reported a 30% increase in workload between 2023 and 2024, largely due to time lost in meetings and duplicative tasks. Only 11% of firms have effectively integrated AI into their workflows. Additionally, fragmented software applications exacerbate productivity issues, prompting calls from almost 60% of workers for software consolidation. Investing in efficient tools and strategies could lead to happier, more productive employees, according to findings from the report.

UK knowledge workers told researchers their workloads grew by nearly a third between 2023 and 2024. All told, they're now spending almost four hours a month of their own time making up for hours lost attending meetings, duplicating work, and completing unnecessary tasks.
