A new survey by the Boston Consulting Group reveals that while AI integration into daily workflows is strong with 72% of employees using it regularly, adoption has plateaued among frontline workers, with usage dropping to 51%. The study identified key barriers to AI deployment, including inadequate training, limited access to tools, and lack of managerial support. Over a third of employees reported insufficient training, which is critical for effective AI transformation. The report highlights the importance of adequate training and AI coaching to improve adoption rates.
AI is now part of our daily work life -- but frontline employees have hit an adoption ceiling.
While 51% of frontline employees use AI -- up from 20% in 2018 -- that figure is actually down one point from 52% last year.
The first is training: just over a third of employees report receiving adequate AI training, meaning 'trained on the skills needed for AI transformation.'
Employees with five or more hours of training were more likely to use AI regularly, especially with in-person training and access to an AI 'coach.'
