Apple is initiating its first significant health study in five years to evaluate how its products can enhance overall health and well-being. Starting Tuesday, U.S. customers can opt into the Apple Health Study via the Research app, collaborating with Brigham and Women's Hospital. The study is distinct as it leverages an extensive dataset from over 350,000 participants, providing continuous data over time, which may reveal deeper insights into how health can be predicted and managed effectively through technology.
"We've only just begun to scratch the surface of how technology can improve our understanding of human health," cardiologist Calum MacRae, the principal investigator of the study, stated.
The Apple Health Study's continuing access to more than 350,000 U.S. participants' data over time expands the possibility of how data can predict, detect, and manage health.
The study aims to harness technology in a new way to monitor and manage changes in participants' health, identifying insights about overall well-being.
Apple's collaboration with Brigham and Women's Hospital represents a groundbreaking approach by leveraging combined data from multiple health studies.
