Stadtwerke München (SWM) is set to introduce 30 new Mercedes eCitaro G electric articulated buses for Munich's transport system, MVG. This addition will bring the number of electric buses in operation to over 100, as stated by MVG CEO Ingo Wortmann. The buses will be based at the Moosach e-bus depot and feature advanced NMC batteries, ensuring efficient energy use and a range sufficient for urban travel. Funding for this initiative is primarily supported by public subsidies, emphasizing the city’s commitment to enhancing sustainable transport options.
The new electric articulated buses will expand MVG's fleet to over 100 electric buses, aligning with Munich's commitment to sustainable public transport.
Public subsidies cover 67.2% of the costs, bolstered by Munich's climate protection program and additional funding from various government entities.
