De Lijn, Belgium's public transport operator, has placed a €24.2 million order for charging stations as part of a framework agreement with SPIE-Ekoenergetyka. This initiative includes up to 1,600 charging points over eight years, and the current phase entails supplying between 600 and 900 stations with varying capacities for electric buses. De Lijn aims to achieve fully emission-free transport by 2035 and relies on the partnership to ensure adequate charging infrastructure at its depots, with financial backing from the Flemish government to support these investments.
Charging infrastructure is a vital part of greening our fleet. By 2035, we aim to offer fully emission-free public transport.
If public transport is to contribute to better air quality, De Lijn must also invest in the necessary charging infrastructure for e-buses.
We are proud to continue our active role in the electrification of buses in Belgium and are grateful for the trust De Lijn has placed in us.
Decarbonizing public transport is one of the major challenges in building a more sustainable world and is a key priority.
