Call up your Luddite loved ones and your nostalgic friends who still cherish physical media.After 25 years, Netflix is ending its DVD-by-mail business.Before it was upending the entertainment industry and ushering in the streaming era, Netflix was a company whose business model revolved around sending DVDs through the mail in easily recognizable red-and-white envelopes.
The '00 - '05 spike was higher than today, and I still felt safe to:

- Walk through the TL to get to farmer's market

- Walk home from The Fillmore or the Warfield after a show

- Be shoulder-to-shoulder in the Castro on Halloween

Bob Lee deserved better than to be killed - and then co-opted in death

Robert Harold "Crazy Bob" Lee died on the pavement in the wee hours last Tuesday after being stabbed while he walked through an abandoned downtown street.He was 43, a father, and while the moments after a man's violent, senseless death are not ideal for gleaning unvarnished opinions, the heartfelt tributes emanating from his many friends and loved ones made it clear that this was a better world with Lee in it.
