The first immunotherapy among new treatments for small cell lung cancer, launched five years ago, has sparked substantial interest, along with ongoing trials of pharmaceutical combinations and innovative medications targeting tumor cells.
In Spain, 15% of the 33,000 lung cancer cases diagnosed annually are microcytic, a type associated with heavy smoking. These tumors have high proliferation rates, tend to be detected late, and can metastasize to the liver or brain.
