The "Dos Amigos Tour," billed in a nod to ZZ Top's seminal album Tres Hombres, kicks off on March 26th in Brookings, South Dakota, and runs through May 23rd in Huntington, West Virginia. For just over 50 years, guitarist Billy Gibbons, bassist Dusty Hill, and drummer Frank Beard (ironically the one without a beard) played the kind of biker beloved bar room blues rock that doesn't equal mainstream stardom. For them, it did. The only explanation that makes sense is that they were just that good at it. ZZ Top were the odd men out, and yet also oddly perfect for the nascent, new wave and pop obsessed MTV.
