The Walt Disney Company excelled at the Gracie Awards, celebrating women's contributions in media across various platforms and formats.
The entertainment industry's most well-known awards show is heading to streaming. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that the Oscars will exclusively air on YouTube starting in 2029. The new deal means the awards show is abandoning its long-time partnership with ABC (owned by frequent Oscar heavyweight, The Walt Disney Company), though the Oscars will continue to air on the network through its 100th anniversary in 2028.
A special honor was awarded to someone very close to the Disney and ABC family on Wednesday night. "World News Tonight" anchor David Muir, presented Debra OConnell with the Gold Medal Award at the 2025 IRTS Hall of Mentorship Awards. OConnell is President of News Group and Networks for the Walt Disney Company. IRTS' mission is to build future media leaders and honor top leaders of today for the work they do mentoring people.
The Television Academy held its 77th Creative Arts Emmy Awards over the weekend and the Walt Disney Company took home some gold! "Andor" won four Creative Arts Emmys including Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Season or Movie, Outstanding Picture Editing for a Drama Series, Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Period or Fantasy Program (one hour or more) and Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi costumes.
