Phil Coturri, a pioneer of organic winegrowing in the United States, is stepping down as chief executive officer of Enterprise Vineyards, the Sonoma-based vineyard management company he founded in 1979. Long before "organic" became a marketing buzzword, Coturri was eschewing synthetic herbicides and fertilizers in favor of soil health, inspiring generations of winegrowers to follow suit.
