"One day you're there, the next day you're not. That's how it goes." Mazzulla reflects on the instability of coaching positions in professional sports, highlighting the sudden changes that can occur. He acknowledges the challenges coaches face in maintaining their roles amid fluctuating team performance.
I think it was good. Came up, obviously a young guy, didn't really know what to expect. Obviously struggled at the start. Being in a new clubhouse, being around guys who had show time, kind of everything, playing against better competition. I think just getting up here, getting my feet wet, it made the transition coming into this year super easy, just because I'm pretty comfortable.
I like Kristian Campbell and want him to succeed. But I am totally convinced that, if he does, it won't be at second base. Is it harsh to say that he was arguably the worst defensive middle infielder I'd ever seen last season? Maybe I'm still haunted by the routine double play that he flubbed against the Yankees, when he broke the wrong way on a ground ball that was hit just a few feet to his left.
