Newcastle United have signed forward Yoane Wissa for 55m from Brentford. The fee for the DR Congo international, who scored 19 Premier League goals last season, is an initial 50m plus 5m in add-ons. Brentford rejected two previous offers for Wissa from the Magpies this summer. The move comes after Newcastle sold striker Alexander Isak to Liverpool for a British transfer record fee of 125m.
The disruption comes after Chelsea ordered Jackson to return to London, following a hamstring injury suffered by Liam Delap, who was expected to feature more prominently in Enzo Maresca's plans this season. With Delap sidelined, the Blues have grown reluctant to weaken their attacking depth further by sanctioning Jackson's departure. As a result, permission for the Senegalese forward to undergo his planned medical with Bayern has been revoked.
Going on a summer holiday is always a bit strange when your life involves staring at sport. David de Gea stated, "I will speak about all of that when my career is over. When things don't happen, it's for a reason... Personally, it went well because Manchester is my home."
