A Manhattan-based Community Education Council voted on Sept. 10 to rescind a widely-criticized anti-trans sports resolution, drawing praise from advocates who regularly protested the resolution at meetings in the aftermath of the vote. Members of Community Education Council District 2, encompassing Chinatown, Tribeca, West Village, Chelsea, Kips Bay, and the Upper East Side, voted 7-3 to nix the resolution, which called for the formation of a new committee that could review and potentially oppose trans inclusion in school sports.
Published by the Research Centre for Museums and Galleries (RCMG) in 2023, Trans-inclusive Culture sets out a framework for cultural institutions to "generate inclusive public spaces and workplaces". The document addresses legal and ethical concerns, and asserts that trans inclusion must sit alongside organisations' commitments to combating "all forms of prejudice and discrimination". Supporters of the guidance include the International Council for Museums UK (Icom UK), the Association for Independent Museums (Aim) and 20 other arts, culture and heritage organisations.
The Scottish government is reviewing its trans and non-binary inclusion policy following a new threat of legal action by gender-critical group Sex Matters, spurred by a Supreme Court ruling.
