Representation continues to rise with each event, according to the report. The Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022 saw at least 36 out LGBTQ+ athletes, while the 2018 PyeongChang games saw just 15. The 2024 Paris Summer Games currently holds the record for most queer athletes in any Olympic event, with 199 members of Team LGBTQ+."
A record roster lists at least 41 out LGBTQ+ athletes from 13 countries competing in the Milan Winter Olympics across nine events. Women's ice hockey includes at least 22 queer women, the single largest contingent, with other representation in snowboarding, alpine skiing, curling, figure skating, and speed skating. Representation has risen from at least 36 out athletes in Beijing 2022 and 15 in PyeongChang 2018, while the 2024 Paris Summer Games recorded 199 queer athletes. The Games will also include the first out trans athlete in Winter Olympic history, Swedish freestyle skier Elis Lundholm.
