Rail services were halted after a massive fire broke out on train tracks between Peckham and Bermondsey on Tuesday evening, causing travel chaos for Londoners. The fire broke out between Queen's Road Peckham and South Bermondsey railway stations. Three fire engines and approximately 15 firefighters were rushed to the scene, trains were stopped in both directions and power was cut. In videos shared to social media, the huge fire can be seen illuminating the night sky.

The fire broke out under a New Jersey train on Monday, sending several people to the hospital and temporarily suspending service for most of the morning.

At 6:19 a.m. ET on August 4, a fire erupted under an eastbound PATH train at the Newport PATH Station, causing panic and evacuation.

The fire, which erupted under an eastbound train around 6:15am, filled the cabin with smoke and forced passengers to evacuate quickly.
