I think the effort tonight was great. The performance certainly was not perfect, but good teams win these kinds of games because they know how to grind it out on a night when you know we're not moving the ball particularly well. We played together as a team for 90 plus minutes, and to leave Philadelphia with three points is huge.
Hopefully, he's going to make our team better. We'll continue to try to improve our roster. The reason we didn't do much in the offseason was because we felt that this group of players that we have has great potential. In time, they'll be very good players. I think you saw some of that tonight.
🔴 Sky Info: RB Leipzig is paying Timo Werner a severance payment of around €2m as part of the transfer to San José Earthquakes. Werner would have earned just over €5m in salary until the summer. This means Leipzig "saves" around €3m & is settling with Werner for about €2m. RB is still in talks with San José about whether a small transfer fee (low six-figure) will be paid or whether it will be a completely free transfer. Final discussions, then the transfer to MLS will go through. @SkySportDE
For Werner, a move to MLS is basically the "Last Chance U" for his career. RB Leipzig does not want him, he has barely played for months, and his marketability is at an all-time low. There were hopes that he would be able to catch on with a club in the Bundesliga, but nothing has emerged. Now, it appears as if it is MLS or bust.
