The Bay Golf Club went head-to-head with Los Angeles Golf Club in a high-stakes TGL match on Monday night. Still looking for its first win of the season, The Bay notched an 11-5 victory over Los Angeles to keep its playoff hopes alive. Tommy Fleetwood, Sahith Theegala and Tony Finau suited up for Los Angeles, while Justin Rose and Collin Morikawa sat out. For The Bay, Min Woo Lee, Luke Clanton and Neal Shipley were active. Ludvig Åberg, Wyndham Clark and Shane Lowry were inactive.
When Thorbjornsen imagined his first TGL appearance, surely he didn't think his first shot in the SoFi Center would be in a bunker. But that's how fate would have it on Hole 1. Matters only got worse when the TGL rookie's shot bounced right back into the bunker. Boston went on to lose the hole, giving LA a 1-0 lead.
The opening match will be broadcast by ABC at 3 p.m. ET and will feature the two teams that met in the championship of the first season -- the Atlanta Drive GC and the New York GC ( Atlanta was the first champion). Earlier in the year, the league announced that the Motor City Golf Club, representing Detroit, will be its first expansion franchise in 2027.
