Governor orders end to remote work, directs state workers back to offices
Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen has ordered state employees to return to their offices full time by January 2, ending remote work.
A state union official expressed concerns that this move will hurt recruitment and retention of state employees, especially as there are already over 2,500 unfilled jobs in state agencies.
Remote work during the pandemic may have saved the state money and some jobs can still be done remotely, but Governor Pillen believes the pandemic is over and wants to restore the state's workforce to pre-pandemic conditions. [ more ]
