Lincoln achieved promotion to the Sky Bet Championship for the first time since 1961 with a 2-1 victory over Reading.
City had revived their promotion bid with a weekend win at Hull, but they had some making up to do with home fans after being thumped 5-0 by Derby in their previous appearance at Ashton Gate. George Tanner escaped injury after being clattered by his own goalkeeper Radek Vitek and Neto Borges sent a shot skywards from the edge of the box.
Haji Wright scored the winner for the second time in three days as league leaders Coventry beat Millwall 2-1 at the CBS Arena. Wright scored an 85th-minute goal against Leicester in the M69 Derby on Saturday and notched his 10th goal of the season as Coventry made it back-to-back victories. On-loan Crystal Palace winger Romain Esse opened his account for the Sky Blues against former club Millwall before Mihailo Ivanovic scored a brilliant equaliser before the half-hour mark.
Patrick Bamford had looked like stealing the headlines with a well-taken early double for the Blades but the hosts powered back to claim their first win in six Sky Bet Championship outings. With his short-term contract due to expire on New Year's Day, Bamford put himself firmly in the shop window as he scored either side of a Tyler Bindon own goal.
