Burlington just reached a whopping 73 days with snow on the ground, the longest stretch since 2004. Burlington is reporting 71 inches as of February 24, which would be average snowfall for the entire winter, and they still have over a month left of the snow season. The city has accumulated more snow than, Denver, Anchorage, Boston, Providence and Minneapolis.
The recent winter storm that slammed North America over the weekend brought along heavy snowfall, delivering some serious snow totals to ski resorts and ski areas from the Rocky Mountains to New England. The past 24 hours brought just around 24 inches of snow to Mountain Creek Resort, creating a serious powder wonderland across the New Jersey ski area. As of January 26th, 43 trails and 8 lifts are open to skiers and snowboarders, with powder and machine groomed conditions found around the mountain.
After experiencing one of the slowest starts to ski season in decades, snow has finally arrived in the Tahoe region - and more could be on the way, the National Weather Service's Reno office says. Areas above 8,000 feet in the Tahoe Basin are expected to receive between 12 to 18 inches of snow this week, the weather service says. Further south, Mono County is slated to receive 18 to 24 inches above 8,500 feet.
