3 weeks agoShell reportedly weighing up merits of making move to buy BP
Shell is considering a takeover of BP, which could be one of the largest deals in oil and gas history.
Shell delivered another solid set of results in the first quarter of 2025, despite adjusted earnings falling by 27.9% due to external charges and ongoing investments.
Shell has agreed to settle its controversial multimillion-dollar lawsuit against Greenpeace after its campaigners boarded an oil rig last year as part of a peaceful protest. The oil company threatened to sue Greenpeace for $2.1m in damages in one of the biggest legal threats against the group after its campaigners occupied a moving oil platform off the coast of the Canary Islands for 13 days to protest against the damage to the climate caused by Shell.
The letter revealed considerable concern about Shell's potential legal and reputational risk to UK Sport, British Cycling, and the National Lottery, driving discussions at an extraordinary board meeting.
