Sean McDermott's tenure as the Buffalo Bills head coach ended Monday, despite his time with the team featuring a historic playoff streak and a complete transformation of the organization's culture. McDermott spent nine years leading the Bills and he had the second-most wins (98-50) of any franchise since 2017. He took Buffalo to the playoffs in eight of those nine seasons, reaching the AFC Championship Game twice, but coming up short of a Super Bowl appearance.
If anyone suggested at the start of the 2025 season that the New England Patriots would win the AFC East in Week 17 with an NFL-high 13-3 record, they would have surely been laughed at, and not just because they were coming off back to back seasons with just four wins, but also due to the expected continued rise of the Buffalo Bills, who have owned the division since 2020.
Coach Sean McDermott said during his news conference Thursday that Allen will not be participating in Saturday's third and final preseason game at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He did not play in either of the team's previous two games. McDermott said that they are still making decisions on some of the other first-team players for the game, but that Allen will not play.
