Josh Allen had surgery on a broken fifth metatarsal Monday in Birmingham after aggravating an older injury in a Week 16 win over Cleveland. Allen remained in the lineup despite the injury, later declining a Pro Bowl Games appearance because of it. He used crutches and a walking boot but said the procedure was not extensive and expects to be ready for OTAs without hindrance. Allen learned of Sean McDermott's firing from owner Terry Pegula, immediately called McDermott, expressed deep respect, and said he felt one more play in Denver might have prevented the coaching change.
