Beloved seafood shack Bob Lobster caught fire Saturday evening, which led to the brief closure of Plum Island Turnpike while multiple fire agencies responded to the scene, according to a press release. Newbury firefighters, who received help from the Newburyport, Rowley, and Georgetown fire departments at the scene, were able to successfully put out the small fire. The Newbury Fire Department also was supported by firefighters from West Newbury, Salisbury, Groveland, and Amesbury, who covered Newbury's stations at the time of the blaze.

On a Sunday night off Plum Island Point, two swimmers were reported unresponsive after an incident in the water, attracting immediate response from local police and fire crews.
