PACIFICA A 75-year-old motorist who rear-ended a SamTrans bus earlier this month in Pacifica died Tuesday, authorities said. It was not immediately known if the injuries the motorist suffered in the crash played a role in her death, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. The collision happened around 4 p.m. on Jan. 8 at Fassler Avenue and the Pacific Coast Highway. The motorist suffered injuries that were believed to be minor at the time, the sheriff's office said.
PACIFICA A person playing the Fantasy 5 state lottery game at a convenience store here won $160,930 Tuesday night, officials said. The unknown person was one of two statewide to pick all five game numbers, which were 3, 14, 27, 31 and 33, splitting the total jackpot of $321,860. The ticket was sold at the 7-Eleven store, 100 Clarendon Road, just west of Highway 1. The store could not immediately be reached for comment.
I got into paragliding 16 years ago. I always knew I wanted to fly something, but planes and skydiving weren't practical and very expensive, Hudson says. I ended up buying a one-way ticket to Hawaii and saw them paragliding in the mountains there, and I knew that's what I wanted to do. One of the benefits of paragliding, she says, is that it's very calming and sort of meditative, and you don't really think of other problems or stress while you're up there.
