Following more than a year of scrutiny from Republicans over how Northwestern University handled pro-Palestinian campus protests last year as well as a months-long federal funding freeze, President Michael Schill plans to step down. Schill, who has been president since 2022, announced his departure Thursday. "Over the past three years, it has been my profound honor to serve as president of Northwestern University," Schill wrote in a message to the campus community.

McGaw Medical Center welcomed around 400 new medical trainees into 180 residency and fellowship programs, signaling the start of their post-graduate medical training.

"Candidacy for the 2026 Nemmers Prize is open to physician-scientists whose body of research exhibits outstanding achievement in their disciplines as demonstrated by works of lasting significance."

"The new institute will advance the development of medical tools that empower the human body to heal, focusing on the regeneration or reconstruction of various tissues and organs."
