We hope so. It looks like he's going to be out for a few weeks. We don't know yet, we're probably going to have to scan him next week again. He felt something at the beginning of the match, he tried to carry on, and at half-time, he was too sore, so let's see. He was gutted, obviously. Very disappointing to see because he was in such a good state. He looked like a real threat; he was getting some consistency, some flow into the team and he looked like a real threat, so it's a big miss for us.
Arsenal have been dealt another significant injury blow with Noni Madueke expected to be sidelined for up to two months after sustaining a knee injury in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Manchester City. The 23-year-old England international was forced off at half-time at the Emirates Stadium, having played through discomfort during the first half. Mikel Arteta said Madueke had an issue very early in the match and he wasn't well enough to continue before being replaced by Bukayo Saka.
"Our primary objective since the start of the season has been the league and then [there are] other competitions in which we have to compete," Valverde said, adding that his players "lacked spark" in their 1-0 home defeat to Alaves. "We'll try to compete with [Arsenal], who are undoubtedly candidates to win the [Champions League]. "We're newcomers but we want to compete."
Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres sent an interesting message about how much he liked playing with Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke as the team's two wingers against Nottingham Forest today. The Gunners earned a comfortable 3-0 win over Forest at the Emirates Stadium, with Gyokeres scoring the second goal after a lovely assist by fellow summer signing Eze. Martin Zubimendi also shone in the game, scoring twice for Arsenal, but afterwards Gyokeres had special praise for Eze and Madueke in particular.
In Saka's case, he will certainly miss this weekend's game against Liverpool and will sit out England's two fixtures during the international break. With any hamstring injury, three or four weeks is really the best case scenario, so it has been viewed as a good outcome by Arsenal and Saka himself, who was desperate to avoid another lengthy lay-off. I think Noni Madueke will start in his place against Liverpool this weekend and that will be a big opportunity for him.
Manchester United aim to address midfield issues by targeting Corentin Tolisso, who had an impressive season at Lyon with 10 goals and nine assists. Given Lyon's financial troubles, a deal may be struck for around 15 million.
