The team announced Wednesday that they're hiring Shawn Heinlen, a former Cleveland Browns Southwest area scout from 2022 to 2025, as their new director of college scouting. Heinlen, who spent 16 years with the Bills in scouting and five years with the Eagles as a Southwest scout, has ties to both Ian Cunningham from his time in Philadelphia and Kevin Stefanski from his stint in Cleveland. It's safe to say he was highly regarded by both, given that he's getting a pretty significant promotion to come to Atlanta.

Breer collects the names of the hottest candidates by querying executives and scouts from all over the league. This year, he included 26 staffers, about half of whom are currently serving as assistant general managers. Newmark was not in the top tier, which Breer labels " on the doorstep " of a top spot. With scouts from more than a dozen NFL teams watching, including the nearby Cleveland Browns, Manning was inconsistent, displaying flashes of promise tempered by mistakes. He completed 17-of-30 passes for 170 yards, one touchdown and an interception -- an underwhelming day for a player some have already pegged as the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
