the trading card game has opted to return to Mega Evolutions, perfectly in time with the giant monsters' resurgence in the forthcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The first new set, out today in the U.S., is aptly and simply called Mega Evolution, and based on opening a few dozen packs, I'm delighted to report that a newfound generosity seems to have arrived.

It's got real-time combat, it all takes place in one city rather than an entire region, and it has a new take on multiplayer to take advantage of that new battle system. Even with all this newness, perhaps the most exciting thing Game Freak is adding is more of something old: Mega Evolutions. These superpowered temporary transformations have long been one of fans' favorite battle gimmicks

The Pokemon Company revealed a new Mega Evolved Pokemon card, Mega Charizard X EX, featuring 360HP and the move Inferno X, which allows damage multiplification through discarded fire energy cards.
