Uniformed officers were threatened by a male armed with a machete, resulting in police firing multiple shots at him which ultimately led to his death.

During a dispute over a tire repair, tensions escalated when Michel Lope Montes de Oca became irate upon discovering the tire was used, pulling a machete on mechanic Brandon Hurst.

Officers observed the suspect in the area of Boylston Street and Charles Street, authorities said. As police approached him, Madej "took a fighting stance," the statement said.
