The general manager for the Palm Springs Riviera Resort & Spa told SFGATE that while its 233 employees were told they were laid off, the resort plans to keep on as many staff members as it can during the seven-month renovation, with a commitment to rehire the rest after the modernization is complete.
The Vermont Labor Relations Board has ordered that Gov. Phil Scott's administration 'rescind' a controversial requirement that state employees return to their physical offices three days per week. The board stated that the state has 'refused to bargain in good faith and interfered with employees' exercise of rights' in requiring in-person work.

If a great AI replacement ever comes to pass, the scale of potential displacement is massive. MIT researchers recently calculated that today's AI systems could already automate tasks performed by more than 20 million American workers, or about 11.7 percent of the entire US labor force.
