Michael O'Leary criticized government inaction regarding the passenger cap at Dublin Airport, stating, "Here is infrastructure that is built and paid for that they won't allow us to use." He referred to the government's infrastructure plans as "smoke and mirrors" amid a €100bn investment announcement. O'Leary noted that the long-standing cap limiting passenger numbers to 32 million has not been addressed despite prior promises from coalition parties. He voiced concerns about the Minister for Transport Darragh O'Brien's lack of action, labeling it as "dither, delay and indecision".

The historian arguing that the longstanding inaction from the government has infuriated her, reflecting the frustration of the community awaiting resolution for over a decade.

"The government can no longer say it is 'nothing to do with us. We can't get involved'...Every attempt being made to solve the dispute...is being met with 'a computer says no' answer."

"Despite several soundbites from senior people in the government claiming that they fully support our members' pay claim, the same leaders refuse to give a mandate to the appropriate funding for department officials to address this long-standing issue," said Siptu sector organiser, Damian Ginley.
