Body-cam footage from Officer Alexander Campos - one of the two officers who fired at Emile - shows the cop arriving at the intersection of E. 52nd St. and Church Ave. around 1 a.m. and getting out of a marked police car. Campos' fellow officers, Sgt. Kyle Sforza and Officer Brian Mejia-Morel, who were already on the scene, confronted Emile and chased him. Campos was holding a gun as Emile fled.
Gregory Szugyi, who also goes by Gregory Dubelle, had been charged with murdering 36-year-old Antonio Poole in an April 2024 shooting on Kennedy Street in Oakland. Police said at the time that Poole was shot with a rifle, and an officer found him lying dead in the street. A witness later told police that when he asked another onlooker to call 911, the person profanely declined, claiming Poole had just tried to rob him, according to court records.
