Dream Fatigue is a new-ish Massachusetts band launched by former Fleshwater/Vein drummer Matt Wood and fronted by Jonali McFadden, and they make shoegazy alt-rock that's not too different from what Matt was doing in Fleshwater. They released their debut LP The Lady In The Sky in 2024, and now they announced a new seven-song EP, No Requiem, due February 13 via DAZE ( pre-order).
Bay Area musicians Steve Wyreman (Grammy-winning songwriter) and guitarist Evanne Barcenas co-lead Effie Zilch & Friends. The duo claims influences ranging from Bob Dylan to Jimi Hendrix to Jefferson Airplane to Memphis legends the Staple Singers. Beyond music, they draw inspiration from visual art (Maxfield Parrish), poetry (Walt Whitman), and classical music (Maurice Ravel). Effie Zilch's latest release, the EP, follows three previous long players, all since 2022.

These tracks were performed by the group's core duo of Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson, with engineering by co-producer Brad Wood at Bear Creek Studios in Woodinville, Washington, and at Sea Grass in Los Angeles earlier this year. Per Sub Pop's press release, these are the first official Sunn O))) recordings to feature "only the original core duo on heavily saturated electric guitars and synthesis."
The treatment cycle was relentless and he spent most of the time bedridden, so while he slept I wrote this song for him. It's been challenging to find the space to be creative since cancer came into our lives, but I knew this song would make Winston smile and that was motivation enough. Collaborating with Pearson Sound made this track exciting too because listening to his music has always been a serotonin rush.
