Brighton and Liverpool played to a goalless draw, with both teams narrowly missing late chances to win the match.
The Primavera came into the game off the back of a damning week in their push for the play-offs. It began with 2-0 home defeat to Cremonese on Thursday, meaning Giovanni Renna's team had dropped back into the bottom half of the standings. This was then followed by a 3-2 loss away against high-flying Cesena at the weekend, a game the Rossoneri twice trailed by two goals in, and that put them down in 14th.
Barcelona are set to find out who they will play in the next round of the Copa del Rey when the draw for the last 16 takes place on Wednesday, January 7th at 1pm local time. Hansi Flick's side booked their place in the next round by beating Guadalajara 2-0 in December and will face lower tier opposition once again later this month. Barcelona can face any of the following five teams who all ply their trade in the second division.
It was a disappointing evening for AC Milan at the Ennio Tardini, failing to beat Parma despite having a two-goal lead. Of course, this collapse was the main focus of the newspapers this morning. Milan had the opportunity to put pressure on their rivals at the top, as well as to head into the international break with a good feeling. Instead, they did the opposite as Parma came back from two goals down to snatch a point from the Rossoneri.
