Other than Gerrit Cole cramping up after the sixth, the Yankees couldn't ask for a much more encouraging win last night at Dodger Stadium.They got contributions from the familiar (Aaron Judge, who homered and made a terrific catch), unfamiliar (Jake Bauers, who clubbed two homers), and fresh from the airport (Oswaldo Cabrera, who went deep as well).

With the news that Dodgers shortstop Gavin Lux is out for the season with a torn ACL, Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts is working on his plan to fill that hole at short.In talking to the media on Tuesday morning, Roberts said Miguel Rojas, re-acquired from the Marlins this offseason, will get the bulk of the starts at short.

With the news that Gavin Lux will miss the entire 2023 season with a torn ACL, the Dodgers are now left to figure out their game plan as far as who will start at short for them this year.Lux was finally in line to be the starting shortstop after four years behind Corey Seager and Trea Turner, but the 25-year-old former top prospect will have to wait another year for that.

The Los Angeles Dodgers only played seven innings against the Texas Rangers due to rain, but the offense still showed some life in the poor conditions at Surprise Stadium.Before the game, Mookie Betts and Chris Taylor met in center field with Corey Seager, the 2020 World Series MVP who signed with the Rangers last offseason after spending his entire career with the Dodgers up until that point.

When the Dodgers traded for shortstop Miguel Rojas on Wednesday, there was a lot of focus on his offense, which has mostly been mediocre in his career and was the worst it's ever been in 2022.Of course, Rojas spent the last half of the season battling a wrist injury, and it's hard to know how much that affected his offense.
