Seriously ill' mental health inpatients told to attend jobcentre or risk losing benefits
Mental health inpatients in the UK have been asked to attend jobcentre meetings relating to their benefits claims, sparking complaints from local Citizens Advice branches.
National guidance from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) states that hospital inpatients should not be required to attend jobcentre meetings.
The DWP clarified that seriously mentally ill patients should not be required to engage in work-related activities. [ more ]
