The wake up on Monday morning only five points out of a wild card spot in the Western Conference - close enough that there will be potentially important games down the stretch. But, at the same time, the Blackhawks are also beginning their ascent out of their scorched earth rebuild. Young players are beginning to take over their lineup and lead the team. They're relying heavily on young players to run the power play and kill penalties. And the centerpieces of the offense are Connor Bedard and Frank Nazar.
A relentless competition and respected leader, Bob wore the Blue and White with pride and left a lasting mark on the franchise. Only ten players in Maple Leafs history scored more goals than Bob, and his impact extended far beyond the scoresheet. Renowned for his intelligence, tenacity and forechecking, Bob played a vital role in Stanley Cup championships in 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1967 - including the Game Three double-overtime game-winner in the 1967 Final.
Protas comes out of the lineup after he missed some of Washington's loss to the Ottawa Senators on Thursday, after Senators defenseman Artem Zub sent him crashing into the boards with a dangerous trip in Thursday's first period. The Belarusian winger went skates-first into the boards and was very slow to get up. The 24-year-old forward did return to the game and skated 14:55 of total ice time in the 4-3 defeat.
When Matthews scored the game-tying goal in the third period, he put his hand to his ear gesturing to the crowd to "make more noise" which is pretty embarassing to do to your own fanbase. If you flashback seven years ago to an incredible regular season game on Oct. 7, 2018 against Chicago, Matthews did the same thing when he scored a go-ahead goal gesturing more that "I can't hear you", before Patrick Kane did the same thing back to him when he tied

The start of the National Hockey League is only hours away, as we look forward to yet another thrilling season of action and exciting results over the course of the year. The first game of this season in the NHL at 5pm sees the Chicago Blackhawks take on the current back-to-back Stanley Cup Champions, the Florida Panthers, in what will be a tough game to start.
The standout player so far for me during the preseason has to be Oliver Moore, scoring a beauty of a goal against St Louis, and showcasing that blistering speed he is known for. Having four assists during his brief stint with the Hawks last season wasn't enough to show us what we really want to know about Oliver Moore, but his preseason performances so far have proved why he is a pending superstar.
We all know about the Leafs and Nick Robertson's position on this team. Especially with the changeover this summer with Mitch Marner's departure and bringing in some more forward talent, there doesn't really seem to be a place for Toronto to use Robertson's talents as a shoot-first, diminutive winger. There have been recent reports that the Leafs are open to the idea of trading the 24-year-old before the season kicks off next month.
