Unfortunately, baseball did baseball stuff and while Snell absolutely dominated a combination of bad luck and missed chances kept the Brewers right in the thick of things throughout. Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts played hero on offense, but things looked bad late when Roki Sasaki finally faltered. However, Blake Treinen came to the rescue and bailed him out to secure a 2-1 victory.
We've talked about the hitters, and not saying hitting and pitching is the same, but I do think the ideology is similar in the sense of, as you're working through things mechanically, you're looking at the stat line. But once you get to the postseason and in that mind, then nothing else matters except competing and doing your job. I do think Blake is a little caught up in the mechanic part of it.
"I think obviously he just wasn't getting miss," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. "I don't know if he was being too fine. I thought the stuff started getting a little better that Adames at-bat, but he had count leverage and couldn't put him away. "We need him. It was a perfect opportunity for him to throw up a zero, and we just couldn't get it done. It's baseball. Hopefully after this off day he'll be able to reset and get ready to finish strong."
