A car being pursued by California Highway Patrol officers early Sunday, Jan. 25 flew off the 105 Freeway and crashed to the ground below near Los Angeles International Airport, the CHP said. A three-mile stretch of Highway 99 was closed for more than five hours Saturday after dense fog led to a massive vehicle pileup in Tulare County, about 40 miles north of Bakersfield. New carpool lane hours are coming next month to Highway 101 in Sonoma and Marin counties, Caltrans announced Wednesday. Beginning in late February, high occupancy vehicle hours will be 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The new schedule, based on a Caltrans traffic analysis this month, will cover the stretch between the Richardson Bay Bridge in Marin County and Windsor in Sonoma County.

All lanes of westbound Highway 24 are closed at Highway 13 after a big rig carrying several tons of cardboard overturned, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Seven vehicles were involved in two pileups that occurred in a five-minute period Monday on the Golden Gate Bridge, the California Highway Patrol reported. The crashes happened at about 7:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes, CHP Officer Arthur Tellez said. One crash involved four vehicles and the other three. No injuries were reported. The crashes are under investigation. Police suspect unsafe speeds were involved in both incidents. The crashes blocked traffic lanes for about 30 minutes.
