Vipp Tunnel Tasmania Guesthouse / Room 11 Architects
Briefly

Danish design brand Vipp has launched its newest guesthouse, the Vipp Tunnel, on Bruny Island, Tasmania. Designed by Room11, the structure is characterized by its brutalist architecture and integration with the natural environment. It juxtaposes solid concrete forms with the rugged beauty of its surroundings, featuring outdoor sculptures by Danish artist Lin Utzon. Guests are welcomed by local wildlife and stunning views of the D'Entrecasteaux Channel, creating a unique retreat that emphasizes connection to nature and innovative design principles.
"On Bruny Island we have created understandable forms that do not mimic context, rather they create an intelligible form from which we can comprehend the nature of place," explains Thomas Bailey.
"Often referred to as 'the edge of the world', Tasmania is distinguished by its sense of otherworldliness. In this corner of the world, immersive surroundings have a grounding effect, reminding us of our connection to nature."
