Ian Rippin, chief executive at MCS, stated, "July was the fifth month in a row to have more than 4,500 certified heat pump installations, maintaining progress towards 2024 being a record year for the technology - by a sizeable margin. In total, there have now been over 250,000 certified heat pumps installed in the UK, which is a significant milestone in the adoption of small-scale renewables."
The July figures reflect a growing trend, with heat pump applications up by 13% from June and doubling from July 2023, indicating rising homeowner preference for renewable energy solutions.
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme received a record number of voucher applications in July 2024, totaling 48,982, with air source heat pumps accounting for 96%, showcasing the demand for sustainable heating options.
Despite impressive growth, the UK's total heat pump installations remain behind neighboring countries, highlighting the need for continued effort to close the gap in renewable technology adoption.
