Josh Sapan attributes his success in the industry to granting creative people the freedom to excel. This approach has resulted in global hits like Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead. He applied the same philosophy during the redesign of his Upper West Side home by architect Crina Arghirescu Rogard. Initially focused on refurnishing their living room for gatherings, Arghirescu Rogard introduced unique furniture pieces including a yellow checkmark-shaped sofa and a 10-foot-long artistic credenza crafted from various materials.
"I have had very good results working with people who are creative and who surprise," he says. "And so I learned to step away."
Crina, from my point of view, got ever better the further I was from [the project]," he says, self-deprecatingly. "It's a familiar experience in my life."
The home, a distinctive turn-of-the-century penthouse on Central Park West-it has two stories facing a spacious terrace, plus a domed garret accessible through a dedicated winding staircase."
AD PRO Directory designer Arghirescu Rogard, who's known for her rigorous yet unconventional designs, came up with an elongated yellow sofa shaped like a wide checkmark... and an oversized hexagonal ottoman upholstered in blue velvet.
