Tour a Monterey Home With a Midcentury Spirit and a Modern Refresh
Briefly

Katherine McGrew sought advice from designer Michael Hilal to optimize her midcentury home, which recently underwent a historically sensitive renovation. The home's architecture emphasized indoor-outdoor living with terraces and large windows. Initially interested in a fold-down bed for guest accommodation, McGrew and Hilal ultimately chose to pursue a complete interior refresh. This project harmoniously blended vintage and bespoke pieces, carefully curating a space that maintained the home's architectural integrity while enhancing its livability and charm.
The downstairs is one large room. I needed it to be able to be a guest room occasionally, but I couldn't figure it out.
Since it was more of a restorative project, we were very cognizant of what that midcentury meant.
We were able to balance the historic architecture with functional, personal, and mixed-era interiors for a cohesive yet livable design.
Concolino's design prioritizes what is also one of today's top residential desires: indoor-outdoor living, enhancing the home's connection to its natural surroundings.
