This Former Textile Factory in Hudson, New York, Just Became a Chic Wellness Escape-With a Stunning Bathhouse
""We've considered accessibility in a broad sense. How do we create a welcoming space for visitors and locals alike? The result is reflected in the design and the ethos of the project.""
""It's a luxury wellness space that feels welcoming and inclusive, rather than exclusive and unattainable. Our concept prioritizes the Hudson Valley community—they offer half-price day passes for locals.""
The Pocketbook Factory, built in 1885, has been converted into a hotel and communal bathhouse while maintaining its original red-brick façade. Eleanor Ambos, the previous owner, aimed to protect the building's legacy and chose Sean Roland, a local developer, to realize her vision. The project emphasizes accessibility and community involvement, featuring art from local artists and shops. The Baths, a wellness space designed by Remy Maelen, offers inclusive services, including discounted passes for locals, fostering a welcoming environment for both visitors and residents.
