Designer Sarah Sherman Samuel and her husband Rupert took on a challenging Mediterranean house in Grand Rapids, Michigan that was described as a "total dungeon". Despite its condition, they recognized its potential and started restoring it as SSS Builds, having previously renovated a Tudor home. Initially, they intended to renovate and sell, but eventually moved in, allowing them to experience the home in a way similar to their clients. Their work preserved many original features while modernizing spaces with structural enhancements.
The Mediterranean-inspired house was a daunting project but offered incredible potential, showcasing the couple's commitment to restoration and design excellence.
Months into renovation, the couple decided to move into the home, experiencing life in a space tailored as if it were designed for a client.
